Before
joining the University of Houston Law Center, Professor Gidi taught for two
years at the Gidi served for several years as the Associate Reporter and Secretary to the American Law Institute / UNIDROIT project on Principles and Rules of Transnational Civil Procedure, a project geared to producing uniform rules of civil procedure for international litigation and arbitration. He
drafted a Model Class Action Code for Civil Law Countries, which was
published in several languages. This work led to invitations to serve as a
Co-Reporter in a project sponsored by the Ibero-American Institute of Civil
Procedure to create a Model Class Actions Code for Gidi has written books and articles in English, Portuguese, and Spanish and in a number of other languages as well. He speaks Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, and English fluently, and has working knowledge of French. In 2011, Gidi was the Marcel Storme Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Ghent Law School (Belgium), where he taught Comparative Civil Procedure and Comparative Class Actions. In 2012, he will be Visiting Professor at the University of Trento Law School (Italy).
